The XL package uses 33-inch tires on 17-inch steel wheels, skid plates, and water-fording vent tubes. The FX4 package offers specially tuned front and rear shocks and Hill Descent Control. The Tremor package uses 35-inch all-terrain tires and off-road-tuned front and rear suspension.

4. Diesel Engine Exhaust Braking

The 6.7-liter Power Stroke Turbo Diesel engine integrates a driver-activated engine exhaust brake that restricts exhaust flow to slow down the truck. This provides greater control while traveling downhill and helps minimize pedal pressure, reducing brake fade and lining wear.

5. Advanced Technology

The F-250 SD has stationary elevated idle control and a trailer brake controller. It also has an oil minder system for gas engines and an intelligent oil-life monitor for diesel engines.

6. Tow Rating

The F-250 SD has a trailer hitch receiver, or a gooseneck hitch kit is available. The tow rating for gooseneck towing is 40,000 pounds; for conventional towing, it’s 30,000 pounds.
