Program Overview
The Mission Valley Ford Trucks Technician Intern/Shadow Program is designed to give trainees and new employees practical, hands-on experience by observing a Certified Ford Technician.
This program provides exposure to real-world shop operations, develops essential technical skills, and familiarizes participants with industry tools, safety procedures, and best practices. Trainees will learn by observing, assisting, and working alongside experienced professionals in a professional, safety-focused environment.
Program Details
Objectives:
- Gain exposure to the daily work of a skilled technician
- Learn under the mentorship of Technician Jon
- Understand industry tools, diagnostics, and repair processes
- Observe troubleshooting and problem-solving techniques
- Integrate into a professional service team
Duration:
- 1–4 weeks (depending on trainee goals and availability)
- Monday–Friday, 2–3 hours per day, 1–2 days per week Schedule flexibility available
- Students or recent graduates in an automotive technology program
- Individuals interested in starting a career as an automotive technician
- Reliable, detail-oriented, and eager to learn
- Must be able to lift up-to 50lbs

Program Outline
Week 1: Orientation and Basic Shadowing
- Company overview, safety protocols, and introduction to tools and equipment
- Observe diagnostics, maintenance, and repair processes
- Assist with basic inspection and diagnostic tasks
- Learn documentation and workflow processes
- Exposure to complex troubleshooting and advanced systems
- Participate in guided, hands-on training activities
- Review progress and receive performance feedback
- Discuss future training or career opportunities
