2021 Ford F-550

Choose from any of the F-550's three trims: the XL, XLT, and Lariat. Three cab styles and two bed lengths are available, making the F-550 very customizable. You can get the XL and XLT in the regular two-door cab, while the crew cab and extended cab are options for all three trims.

The F-550 is equipped with 19.5-inch wheels, front tow hooks, splash guards, and LED roof marker clearance lights. Black door handles become body-color on the Lariat, which also includes rear privacy glass, chrome grille, and a chrome steel front bumper with black lower air dam.

The Ford F-550 chassis cab is powered by a 7.3-liter gasoline V-8 engine. This unit features variable cam timing and delivers 365 horsepower and 468 pound-feet of torque. There's an available turbocharged diesel engine. It's a 6.7-liter PowerStroke machine that produces 330 horsepower and 825 pound-feet of torque. Both engines come with a TorqShift 10-speed automatic transmission for improved shifting.

The F-550's 10-speed automatic sends power to the rear wheels. However, all-wheel drive is an available option across the board. You can optimize driving traction by selecting a drive mode based on the terrain. Options include Slippery, Eco, Tow/Haul, and Deep Snow/Sand.

With the fifth wheel and goosenecking capability, the F-550 can tow up to an astounding 31,600 pounds. The maximum payload capacity is 12,750 pounds. With the diesel engine, a smart exhaust braking option featuring three modes — On, Off, and Auto — enables greater control when going downhill and reduces wear and tear on the brake lining. Other performance features include AdvancTrac with roll stability control and trailer sway control.

The interior of the 2021 F-550 is well-appointed and comfortable. The front seats are 40/20/40-split bench seats with armrests, uphlolstered in your choice of vinyl, cloth, or premium leather, depending on the trim. SuperCab trims feature a 60/40-split fold-up bench seat in the rear, while crew cab trims come with a 60/40-split flip-up/fold-down version.

The SYNC 3 infotainment system comes standard on the XLT and Lariat and equips the F-550 with Bluetooth audio and 911 assist. You can take calls, listen to music, and use all your favorite apps. FordPass Connect is also standard across the trims. A Bang & Olufsen sound system comes standard on the Lariat trim.

Thanks to the Ford Co-Pilot360 suite of driver-assistance technologies, your F-550 comes with the SOS Post-Crash Alert System as a standard feature, as well as available automatic high beams for increased visibility on the road, pre-collision assist with automatic emergency braking to avert collisions, and lane-keeping alert to prevent swerving. Air bags are located in strategic locations across the cabin to protect all occupants in the event of a collision. Other safety features include safety belts with a belt minder alert, as well as child tethers.
